ADULT OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY
Our occupational therapists will guide you toward holistic wellness and restoring life balance. This means using a blend of counselling, physical therapy, yoga therapy, and mindfulness practices to help you identify, engage and participate in the activities and roles that are meaningful to you.

The process is focused around your personal wellness goals. These may be related to self-care (sleep, pelvic health, intimacy), productive activities (working, childcare, caregiving), or leisure activities (social interaction, exercise, hobbies). Your occupational therapist will work with you to identify the barriers to your goals and strategies to overcome them.

The WOMB’s occupational therapy services are ideal for anyone who is trying to conceive, is pregnant, has already given birth, or is experiencing grief related to miscarriage. The stressors we face can be overwhelming in every way, but you don't have to face it alone.

PEDIATRIC OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY
Occupational Therapists assess an infant or child’s development with a focus on their “occupations”. For infants and children, this may include play, eating, sleeping, building independence in self-care activities, and successfully participating in programs such as childcare or school. OTs help with working towards meeting an individual child’s developmental goals and milestones. We use a fun, play-based approach to assessment and intervention with the child. We also coach caregivers to feel confident in their abilities to support their child in their own environments. Our Occupational Therapists work on: Fine motor, Gross Motor, Self-help, Feeding, Sensory processing, Visual-motor, Play, Self-regulation and Social skills.

With 20 years of clinical experience, I value building a relationship with each client, slowly and respectfully, so that we can learn to understand each other (even without words sometimes!) When we can trust each other, and respect each other’s preferences, then learning and meaningful communication can begin. I have extensive experience with autism, motor speech (apraxia), language delays, and social communication challenges. Families are an important part of my intervention plans - and involve caregivers in intervention strategies so they can take them home and apply them on a daily basis (not just the one hour a week the client spends with me!). I am comfortable with all levels of communication challenges and willing to explore AAC (augmentative and alternative communication) supports with pictures, tablets and a range of devices. I also offer Social Thinking interventions in one-on-one and small group formats. Virtual and in-person appointments offered.

Pauline’s massage work highlights wellness through fostering mind and body connection. She truly believes in a holistic approach to health, and that mind-body wellness are a pair that must be nurtured and strengthened together.

Pauline teaches basic breathing exercises during her treatments as a tool to encourage nervous system regulation and calm, two important ingredients for fostering relaxation and healing.

Pauline brings with her 10 years of hands-on experience working with expectant families. Her career in wellness began as a Childbirth Doula after her second daughter was born in 2011. Since then, she has helped dozens of women prepare for childbirth by providing education, advocacy skills, and physical and emotional support throughout her clients’ pregnancies and births.

Pauline became a Registered Massage Therapist in 2017 after completing the two year program at the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy. While still in massage school, Pauline was able to complete the Trimesters Pregnancy Massage training which included a placement at Sunnybrook Hospital in the High Risk Pregnancy Unit. During that placement, she realized that having previous hands-on experience with pregnant women was a gift, and that once she would become registered, she would naturally become known as the therapist who focused on pregnancy massage. She believes that becoming an RMT was the highlight of her Doula career, as massage proved to be the most valuable tool she could offer to her pregnant clientele. Pregnant women make up about half of the clientele she sees regularly.

Pauline studied for two years to become a Prenatal Instructor and earned her certificate in Childbirth Education in 2015 which allowed her to teach fun and interactive prenatal classes both in hospital and in private settings.

Pauline also received a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology in 2007. Her and her husband Jason got married that same year and started their family. Today they have 5 high-energy kids who keep them very busy. She enjoys spending time with her family outdoors all year round.

Pauline’s focus now is her massage work, and she is thrilled to be joining The WOMB Vaughan and its team of wonderful practitioners. Pauline understands the importance of building healthy connections with her clients and colleagues that is based on trust and respect. Through education and collaboration, she is excited to help foster wellness and healing to The WOMB Vaughan community.
